  3. I wanted to make sure I understand NLBM fee schedule, get advise on my planned fee schedule. and get a couple questions I have about fees answered. 

     

    $2,000-$4,000 package includes the following documents: 

    a will that directs the probate court how the grantor wished their assets to be allocated 

    Advance Health Care Directives with specific instructions on clients medical wishes 

    Inventory of assets 

    Letters to health care director and person given power of attorney 

    Financial Power of Attorney 

    Kids Protection Plan if there are minor children 

     

    This package includes the following services 

    Creating the documents 

    Holding a will signing ceremony 

    Providing the client with the documents in a binder 

    Offer a deal to carry out the probate/if they become a member 

     

    This package should be recommended in the following situations:

    The clients assets are less then $250,000

    The clients is not concern with avoiding probate 

     

    $3,000-$5,000 package includes the following documents 

    Revocable Living Trust 

    Advance Health Care Directives with specific instructions on clients medical wishes 

    Inventory of Assets 

    Letters to health care director and person given power of attorney 

    Financial Power of Attorney 

    Kids protection plan if there are minor children 

     

    This package is recommended whenever a trust would be better for the client

     

    The price would be $4,000 if client says yes to one of the $1,000 questions and $5,000 if client says yes to both $1,000 questions. 

     

    The price would also increase every additional trust I would be making 

     

    $5,000-$7,000

     

    This package provides all the documents listed under the $3,000-$5,000 plan but the clients can choose to pay me an additional $2,000 to retitle assets. In other words you just add $2,000 to whatever you charge to make the plan. 

     

    I also have a question about the pricing of the first package. I understand from other forums that the price range is designed to reflect the two thousand dollar questions however with a will based plan those options are not available correct? If this is right where does the additional $2,000 come from? 

     

    Finally can you recommend a good membership price to charge?

      Happy to review more in depth this afternoon, but I wanted to comment on the discount for your practice clients. This is really up to you!  You might choose to do the plan for free, or offer a 25-75% discount. 

       

      Keep in mind that you will take your practice clients through the entire plan, quote the fee's as is and then discount the plan based on the plan they choose.

  16. Hello lawyers I love, I hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend with family, friends and time in the great outdoors. I am thrilled it's summer! And, this summer, for me, has been all about getting back into the media and getting my content out into the world to help people make wise financial decisions for themselves and their families. In service to that, I wanted to let you know about a few things I have going on, that could impact you, and also make sure you have the guidance you need to be making good decisions for yourself and your families, plus to educate your communities. First and foremost, as a lawyer, you may not think of yourself as someone who offers financial advice. And, yet, as a trusted advisor to families and business owners, I want to invite you to shift your thinking on this and get yourself educated enough to feel confident talking about financial matters and helping your clients think about these matters at a high level, so you can help them get into conversations with their families about it, as this is one of your primary jobs, IMO, and WILL set you apart from every other lawyer in your community + is a big part of what they cannot get from a documents only service, online. This does not mean that you need to be an actual financial planner, insurance advisor, or tax strategist, as there are specialists who handle such things, but as a lawyer who is a trusted advisor you must be knowledgeable enough on these topics to be an OBJECTIVE sounding board for your clients, and help them to choose the right financial planners, insurance advisors and tax strategists for their personal situation, IF you want to be seen as a true advisor, and get paid for more than just documents. You want your clients to see YOU as the objected, trusted advisor who helps them to make good decisions about the use of their resources, even though you are not paid a commission to sell products. All wealthy people have a team of advisors working on their legal, insurance, financial and tax matters and, in the past, the people we serve -- mainstreet, mom and pop, American people -- could not (and did not) get good legal, insurance, financial and tax advice because there simply weren't good models for it that didn't involve mis-aligned incentives. But, that's one of the things we are changing here at NLBM. One of the most valuable things you can do is to be educating your clients beyond the traditional scope of documents and strategies, and into what I call "eyes wide open decision-making" -- and this means getting yourself into position to understand the full scope of legal, insurance, financial and tax (LIFT) matters your clients and their families are facing, and then speaking to those matters in your community from an educational perspective (best form of marketing you can do for yourself and your practice), and partnering with people you trust to provide the services that you don't (you don't have to be a financial advisor, sell insurance or be a CPA), with you in "quarterback" role, coordinating the advice and ensuring it gets executed properly. For many of you, this needs to begin with you looking at your own financial realities, and that of your family's, with fresh eyes, as you have perhaps not done such a great job here in the past, or have not been educated on these matters. If that's the case, DO NOT WORRY ... your mistakes are your greatest opportunities to learn, grow and evolve, and then share what you learn with your clients. If this feels scary or overwhelming to you in any way, I want to reassure you that you have everything you need to be able to learn how to make good financial decisions for yourself, for your family, and then to help your clients to do the same. Believe me, if I can do this, so can you. And, we will be creating more and more systems, strategic alliances and support to get you more educated in these areas. So where do you start? Well, first and foremost, start with shift #1 from the 5 shifts -- GET CONGRUENT. And that means starting at home with your own family. I'm doing that myself. You cannot do this soon enough, in my opinion. If you have Qs about anything you read here, please comment here, be willing to share your own lack of clarity, uncertainty, not knowing how to make good decisions perhaps, or talk to your families, perhaps, as that's how you learn. It's okay to not know. There was a time I did not know too, and made over a million dollars of mistakes from that place. And now I do know. Watch the NEW Enough Course modules. Please make sure you have fully accessed all that is available to you here. Coming down the line, I will be returning to the media to help people begin to become more aware/think about these issues for themselves and their families. I had my first interview with CBS San Antonio last week, and then one with ABC Sac coming up next week, and NBC Washington DC week after, and I'll be on TDAmeritrade Network show on Monday. Please use this thread to discuss these matters, and begin to get yourself into the mindset of trusted advisor on legal, insurance, financial and tax matters -- with you as "quarterback". That means that this is the time for you to start networking with the financial advisors, insurance professionals, and tax strategists in your community so you can find the one's you trust, the really good one's because you'll be able to bring them business, and create a team of people to serve your clients. So, the final thing I want to leave you with is this: you have the opportunity to be in "pole position" for your clients and bring lots of referrals to advisors in your community. Get out there and begin networking with other professionals from that perspective and FIND THE BEST ONE's for the clients that YOU will serve. Do not compromise here. There are many not great advisors out there. And there are many great advisors who aren't the right fit for YOUR client base. Begin to consider who you want to serve, and what they really need when it comes to a comprehensive legal, insurance, financial and tax team and how you can create that in your community. To our wonderful NLBM Members, This post is about Meet Fireside, and working with outside vendors in general. --- For those of you who are not yet members, you probably don’t have any context for this message, so I am reposting it with a little background: Once you are a member, we give you many resources to do your marketing (both online and offline) and we recently shared with our membership about an outside vendor that one of our members had been having great success with. Upon doing so, many of our members signed up with this outside vendor; some have had great results, and some have had not-so-great results. And so this message is in service of supporting our members (as well as you members-in-training) with working with outside vendors. To be clear for those of you who are not yet members: do not yet contact Meet Fireside (or any other digital marketing agency, for that matter) about working with you on your marketing yet. I initially intended this message to go just to our members, and made a mistake in the forum I posted it in, so I am wanting to be specific here that it is not yet time for you to hire a marketing agency. Until you have access to all of our marketing resources (and our support and strategic guidance to make the best possible investments of your resources), it is not the best use of your time, energy, attention and money to hire any marketing agency. It is in your best interest to stay focused on completing your program, your own plan, and serving your first two practice clients. Then, when you are ready for membership, you will have access to all of our marketing resources + the support you need to hire the additional implementation support you may want to get your message out into your community. You may or may not want to work with outside vendors in the future, when you are ready to market your services. Otherwise, we encourage you to keep your focus and energetic investments on your next immediate steps -- your own plan + your two practice clients. --- For our members: First, in case this isn’t clear, I’m wanting to clarify that Meet Fireside is not an official NLBM service. We shared them with you as a resource after hearing about their great results for Pam, and vetting their price point against the small budgets you all shared you had and were willing to invest for online marketing. At $500/mo and a willingness to run very small ad budgets, they are the least expensive option out there, and a great way for you to learn what works, what doesn’t, test, and improve over time with least cost out of pocket. Now that so many of you are working with them, Ali and Bonnie have been donating their own time to work with Meet Fireside on your behalf as a gift to the membership and because they are so committed to your success and shortcutting your learning process. But they cannot eliminate your learning process. Having said all that, I’m aware that several of you have expressed some unhappiness in working with Meet Fireside, and I’m genuinely sorry that has been the case. We want nothing more than your success. I know Meet Fireside has been a fabulous and valuable resource for many of you as well, and do believe that is possible for the future, especially as Ali and Bonnie continue to work with them to support them in creating more systems + infrastructure to serve you all. Again, please note: Ali and Bonnie are doing this at no financial benefit to them or NLBM whatsoever, other than that we are always looking at how we can leverage economies of scale for you to lower your costs of learning and implementation. Given this, the intention of this post is to clearly communicate that: Meet Fireside is not an official partner of NLBM We cannot guarantee results from Meet Fireside If you do choose to move forward with Meet Fireside’s services, or even inquire about their services, we want to support you doing that in the best possible way and with proper expectations. There’s more to say on this, but for now, I want to offer that with all vendors you bring on, including Meet Fireside, it’s extremely important to understand what you are paying for, what’s reasonable and what to expect. For all that to be true, you need to ask tough, direct questions that support you in discerning if and how this vendor will be able to meet your needs. In this case, with Meet Fireside and other marketing vendors, good questions might include: What exactly does my monthly ad management fee cover? How do you choose which audiences to run my campaigns to? What do I need to have set up on my end to really benefit from your services? What systems and infrastructure do I need to have in place to take full advantage of your services? Will I have an opportunity to review campaigns before they are launched? Is there a deadline by which to get change requests to you? What percentage of the time do your campaigns launch on time? What happens if I have a campaign that does not launch on time? I heard “XYZ” about your services from others - what might you say in response to that? What kind of regular communication can I expect from your team? Should I expect any other costs? What happens if I’m unsatisfied with any campaigns or aspects of your service? Do you have a contract that outlines the expectations we’ve discussed?
